Arrival!

Arrival!
And we have arrived safely in The Gambia! We drove in with Musa and the new hospital attendant, Mr. Mendy. Mr. Badgie, the CEO was out in Kombos, but we’re hoping to see him when he arrives in Bwiam in the next couple of days. Our ride in was lovely and fairly comfortable compared to previous years. The road has been paved considerably since our last visit and it was thrilling to see really how much progress has been made. The government is even funding electricity out to the villages now so there are people out cutting down mango trees to make way for the power. Exciting advancements in the last few years for sure!

When we arrived, we got settled into the new volunteer guesthouse reserved for Hand in Health and Power Up Gambia volunteers. It was nice accommodations and even had electricity for several hours during the night! Another lovely change from years past. Once we were settled we headed for bed early, eager to meet up with friendly faces and old friends in the days to come!

Bon Voyage!

Well I'm sitting here in the midst of all the crazy packing madness that is my apartment and I can't believe I'm heading back again. It has been a crazy day of getting the dental supplies together and sending out last minute e-mails.. just in general getting everything ready for an awesome month back in Gambia.

I'll write more soon... perhaps on the plane when I get a chance to fully process and comprehend that I've been blessed enough to go back to this wonderful country once again.

For now, however, I couldn't be more excited!

Wish us a safe trip to Bwiam!
